MOSQUITO STATE

I was expecting American Psycho, but this movie is far more nasty and interesting than i could have possibly anticipated.

despite this movie opening with 5 full minutes of credits, i really enjoyed this movie.

Isolated in his penthouse overlooking Central Park, obsessive Wall Street data analyst Richard Boca sees ominous patterns: His computer models are behaving erratically, as are the swarms of mosquitoes he begins breeding in his apartment. to keep the american Psycho compassion, the two movies share a lot of the same themes.

both movies have magnetic main characters who are incredibly unique and well acted. Everything about Beau Knapp's performance as Richard is incredible, especially when things go balls to the wall insane. both movies share a gorgeous production design, Donald Trump shout outs, rich New York setting, and my personal favorite deceptions of people who have completely lost touch with reality.

i would love more than anything to have a therapist watch this movie and attempt to diagnose Richard, since i still have no idea what is going through his head. Patrick Bateman is easy enough to understand, But Richard Bocca is unlike any other film character i have ever seen. His character is surrounded by mystery, and every time you watch you will pick up something new about his character.

if Lars Von Trier directed American Psycho, you would get mosquito state.
