I have been meaning to watch this sooner. i thought it was dumb, someone convinced me to watch it, i bought it on DVD, and i have just now watched it for the first time 19 months later.
How topical.
this movie is a strange mix of interesting and fucking stupid. Im a fan of exploring how 2 young children can be totally abandoned in the woods, and how the manage to find food and shelter on there own. this movie is a look at what 2 kids there ages would have to do to survive, and thats some scary shit. and this does a competent job of showing that.
but for some ungodly reason its filled with bad jump scares. and a weird scene were these kids tripping balls on mushrooms. and Hansel training to be a lumberjack is so comical. And Gretel is Jean Gray.
This movie is way funnier than they wanted it to be, and it makes this otherwise unremarkable movie kinda fun. but not that much fun.
