WHO INVITED THEM

This is a movie that sort of fell from the sky. Its so new there isn't even a Wikipedia entry for it, the director has no other credits worth mentioning, and i don't recognize a single cast member.

so that's a good sign...

Adam and Margo's housewarming party is a success. One couple linger after the other guests, revealing themselves to be wealthy neighbors. As one night cap leads to another, Adam and Margo suspect their new friends are duplicitous strangers

if i were to judge a book by its cover, i would lump this movie in with the whole "Rich modern white people being targeted by home invaders" type shtick. I always find these movies hard to relate to and unoriginal, so imagine my surprise when i loved this movie. it very much understands all of the classic genre tropes and uses them to build suspense for over half of its run time, and i love this movies patience. if you were expecting a violent home invasion flick with some crazy gore, you wont get it. what you will get is a black comedy about a couple being gaslight by some sexy strangers into working through there marital issues and becoming a stronger couple because of it. there really isn't any other movie quite like this one, and i love its style both literally and figuratively.

in some of the reviews for this movie i heard people mention Ryan Hansen as being the worst actor in the cast, and i find that shocking. His character is what gives this movie most of its comedy, and i have met plenty of people IRL that are a carbon copy of this character.

simply put, this movie is just awesome. if you found THE INVATATION to boring but want a similar type of movie, i demand you give this movie a watch.

9/10
