"harmless and less than 80 minutes if you turn it off before the credits are done. It's just so embarrassingly thin. The few chuckles are all the more depressing when you realize that this could have been a winner with a clever screenwriter and a competent director."

When a new Spirit Halloween store appears in a deserted strip mall, three middle school friends who think they've outgrown trick or treating make a dare to spend the night locked inside the store Halloween night. The kids embark on a thrilling and spooky adventure in order to survive the night and avoid becoming possessed themselves.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has an approval rating of 54% based on 26 critics' reviews, with an average rating of 4.8/10.
Almost everything about this movie feels amateur, flimsy, and unsatisfying. There's not a single location in this entire movie I believe is real besides the titular spirit Halloween, and the camera work feels closer to a TV commercial than an actual movie. Besides Christopher Lloyd, the entire cast of this movie give phone Dan and tired performances that leave you adrift in a sea of characters you really don't care about.
This really could have been a good vehicle for some Halloween haunted house type Vibe, and I must admit I do love the idea of kids being locked in A strip mall overnight. But again it never really does anything with its concepts, and feels worse than a lot of hallmark Christmas movies.
it's clearly aimed to the younger audience with a sort of Disney Channel original feeling to it, but just because it's for a younger audience doesn't give you an excuse to make a bad movie.
I beg of thee, do not be tricked into watching this movie under any circumstances.
