! ! MASSIVE TRIGGER WARNING ! !
This movie contains real footage of Auschwitz, real corpses of adults and children, horribly mangled and sick children, and the effects of war. this is coming from a guy who found FACES OF DEATH way to slow, so if you want to skip all that go to the 9 minute mark and start from there.
A couple of English tourists rent a boat to visit the fictitious island of Almanzora, just off the southern Spanish coast. When they arrive, they find the town deserted of adults, there's only children who don't speak but stare at them with eerie smiles. They soon discover that all the children of the island have been posessed by a mysterious force or madness which they can pass from one to another, and which makes them attack and murder their elders, who can't defend themselves because nobody dares to kill a child...
this opens with the most severe case of whiplash i have ever gotten from a movie. After 10 minutes of absolutely gut wrenching real life death, we get to take a trip to a super colorful Spanish island and party during a massive festival. Dennis Schwartz from Ozus' World Movie Reviews rated the film a grade B−, calling it "Unapologetic downbeat", and that's a damn good description. its extremely in your face with its themes and message, slow as fuck, and mostly consists of two boring old English people wandering around an empty island.
First you shock me with real life death and violence, and then you left me to marinate in boredom.
kind of a dick move
