If James didn't exist, i would say this show was perfect. Dont get me wrong, im in love with Twin Peaks. The Return is by far the best TV i have ever seen, and Fire Walk With Me is a perfect movie. How can i not love the show that started it all?
This show is a real Yin Yang. one one side, we have a charming small town filled with Wacky characters and the very definition of soap opera problems. Lynch and Frost expertly set up some of the most wholesome locations on TV. The Double R Dinner, The Sheriff station, and even the Great Northern hotel all are some of the coziest spots in TV History. Sprinkle in some equally wholesome characters like Dr. Jacoby, Andy, Lucy, Gordon Cole, and so many more. the show oozes with classic Americana, and nothing is to wacky for Twin Peaks.
Quite honestly, it often gets so wacky (and fucking James is insufferable) that i find myself skipping through scenes that are useless to the plot. that being said, Twin Peaks has some of the most gut wrenching horror on TV.
a father sexual abusing his daughter, woods full of darkness, a being of pure evil, a strange red room, and a young girls decent into madness, and the most emotionally effective murder mystery i have ever scene.
