"Going to the cinema is like returning to the womb; you sit there still and meditative in the darkness, waiting for life to appear on the screen. One should go to the cinema with the innocence of a fetus"
-LUCIO FULCI
this is a classic "made in Italy to look like it was filmed in America", and you probably know what that means by now. And based on that quote we know that Fulci is a passionate about film making, so going in i was prepared for a sleepaway camp style weird as hell fun fest.
plot wise, you don't get much info going in. all you know is a New England home (that's definitely not in Italy) is being terrorized by a series of murders, unbeknownst to the guests that a gruesome secret is hiding in the basement. and gruesome is definitely the right word for this movie as we get a wonderfully nasty opening kill to start things off right. mix that with the sick synth score that plays over the opening credits, and i have gone from optimistic to straight up excited.
this movie is everything i had ever hoped for and so much more. god bless you Lucio for blessing us mere mortals with your talents
