I dont really like ghost movies. some of the best movies are ghost movies, Beetlejuice, Ghost watch, the Shining, 1408, grave encounters 1-2, and many more. i think my aversion to ghost movies comes from how toned down they have made ghost in horror the last couple of years. ghost dont kill people, the knock stuff of shelves and make all your cupboard doors open at once. there not really violent, there mischievous little shits who just want to fuck with you. i do admit that why i feel like that is probably because i have watched every paranormal activity and the later movies in that series are garbage.
going into this movie all i knew was people said it was gory, and kinda sucked. i have only ever seen the first 20 minutes of the american remake of the grudge before i tapped out (i will have to try and watch that again) and i wasn't into it. but i was compelled to watch this movie for some reason. whether it was the trailer, or people saying it was bad, i deiced to give it a shot. and i was pleasantly surprised by this movie.
whats the plot of this movie you ask? its about a cop who moves to town with her son and then.... umm... i dont know but thats not important here. the cast in this movie is incredible. Lin Shaye aka Elise from insidious, John Cho, Mia from the episode of Black Mirror Crocodile, and The therapist from the voices. And best of all everyone i just mentioned dies horribly and violently thanks to a vengeful family of ghosts. The gore in this movie is incredible. honestly the only reason i enjoyed this movie is for its gore. a self inflicted gunshot wound that ends arse face style, o woman cutting off her own fingers, a man gouging his own eyes out, the best version of a jumping down a stairwell suicide i have ever seen, and some amazing creepy ghost effects.
aired with a great score, and a great cast, this movie is worth watching. maybe after i watch all the other movies in the series my opinion will change, but for now this movie is a solid
