When i first finished watching the second season of twin peaks, I was left thinking "wait, what? seriously? what the fuck even happened?" if you had that response to this movie, I totally get it. that being said, I fucking love this movie.
first of all this cast is ridiculous. Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Steve Buscemi, Tilda Swinton, Selena Gomez, Iggy Pop, hell even Tom Waits is in this movie. This movie mostly focuses on Adam Driver and Bill Murray, who have amazing chemistry. there dry sarcastic style of comedy is a real delight to watch. and now is probably a great time to mention that this is a comedy. yes there are kills, and people get killed by zombies, but its really not about that. the comedy is really why I love this movie, and I really don't care about the kills.
and to further compare his movie to twin peaks, they really establish a great twin peaks style town. lots of amazing wacky characters to fill up the run time, which i am perfectly fine with me. This movie is super absurdist, and I love absurdist movies like this.
if your prone to overthinking movies, or you just want to watch a great comedy with a lot of recognizable faces, than this movie is for you.

This movie almost feels like an experiment, and its somewhat baffling this movie works at all. but I can fairly easily tell you why it works so well for me.
I love how this is a zombie movie that's just as done with zombie movies as the rest of the world. yes there is a zombie apocalypse happening, but our main cast really doesn't care that much. At no point does this movie ever take itself seriously. the whole situation is one big joke (or perhaps a bit to heavy handed of a metaphor), and damn near every cast member gets there comedic time to shine.
this might not make much sense, but I love how human this movie is.
Adam Driver is also the best part of this movie by far.
