For some reason i had gotten it into my head that this movie was a early 2000's found footage movie. imagine my surprise when Charlie Chapman stabbed someone and ran off.
believe it or not, i found this movie hard to figure out. Is the barn boy the murder man from the start? how long ago did her dad leave? Who is Chris Miller? who the hell thought this movie needed to be 2 hours long? is it worth waiting to find out if anything interesting ever happens. this is one of the few movies i dont recommend watching, but i recommend looking at. The whole movie is far to well directed for its subject matter. I think a women struggling to deal with the mixed feelings she has about her sexually abusive father is a great horror movie idea. Real world horror like that can be the most effective genre if its handled well. this is anything but handled well. The script has great plot for a drama/thriller buried somewhere, but as a horror movie it falls a bit short of the mark. If this ever gets a remake, i will be the first in line. assuming movie theatres exist at all in the future.
this definitely feels like one of those movies hardcore horror fans love and casual viewers cant wait to forget. the artsy ones your supposed to like but dont give a shit about. i will have to check out some of the directors other work.
or just skip ahead to about an hour and 10 minutes for the murder fun times
5/10
