...Instead, "The Apology" concerns how painful it can be to air out grievances that many of us would rather let fester in private. Don't let the title fool you: Locke's movie is about the waking nightmare of processing one's emotions with the people who have hurt you and working with them to negotiate something as uncertain and essential as justice.
ya know, this blog is on its last legs. Much like the youtube channel, I have kind of just realized I don't enjoy doing it anymore. But this movie was so damn good it dragged my mediocre ass out of retirement.
Twenty years after the disappearance of her daughter, recovering alcoholic Darlene Hagen (Skylar White Yo!) is preparing to host her family's Christmas celebration with her best friend Gretchen. Late Christmas Eve, Darlene's estranged ex-brother-in-law, Jack, arrives unannounced, bearing nostalgic gifts and a heavy secret. Soon, Darlene finds herself caught between reason and ruthless instinct. Trapped together by a dangerous storm, a battle of wits escalates to a violent game of revenge.
First of all, Skylar White meets Jerimiah Sand is a damn good meeting of the talents. Anna Gunn and Linus Roache are both actors I have always enjoyed watching, and it's nice to see both of them working in anything at all honestly. There are so damn good in this movie I kept doubting myself, wondering if it was really them or just some hella talented new kids on the block. this movie really is 2 people in a house talking, and without such strong actors in the leading roles, this movie could easily become a real forgettable sob story.
this movie is just so damn good. so well written and natural, full of gorgeous directing, and scene after scene of incredible performances.
you know what fuck this, i am actually done writing on this blog forever now. the movie is just good man, go read some roger ebert bullshit about it
