not sure if you can be a Satanist and hippie at the same time. Don't those 2 things kinda... clash?
I Drink Your Blood is a 1971 American exploitation horror film written and directed by David E. Durston, produced by Jerry Gross, and starring Bhaskar Roy Chowdhury, Jadine Wong, and Lynn Lowry. A band of Satanist hippies roll into a town and begin to terrorize the local folk. They rape a local girl and her grandfather goes after them. He fails and is given LSD. This bothers his grandson, who gets back at the hippies by feeding them meat pies infected with blood from a rabid dog. They turn into crazed lunatics and start infecting and/or killing everyone and everything in their path.
To make a long story short, this movie exists because producer Jerry Gross said he wanted to "make the most graphic horror film ever produced, but he didn't want any vampires, man-made monsters, werewolves, mad doctors, or little people" For three weeks Durston struggled to come up with a storyline, until reading a newspaper article on an incident involving a mountain village in Iran. According to Durston, the article described an incident where a pack of rabid wolves attacked a schoolhouse occupied by eighteen to nineteen children and two teachers. Durston contacted a doctor who was an authority on the disease and had visited the village. He was shown 8mm footage that the doctor had taken during his work at the village of the infected children locked in cages and foaming at the mouth. Durston later recalled: "It made the hair on the back of my head elevate. I had never seen anything so horrible, yet so real, in my life". Further inspiration for the film came from coverage of the trial of Charles Manson. Using the high publicity generated from the trial, Durston rewrote the script, creating the character Horace Bones, a Manson-like leader of a Satanic cult of hippies that terrorizes the town.
Definitely has some fertile ground for a good horror movie, but this is not that movie. What promises to be nasty as LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT feels a lot closer to ITALIAN SPIDERMAN with its assault of cliches and uninteresting characters. Way too much talking, with almost 0 horrors to be found at all besides some fun little sound cues here and there.
leave the rats alone man, they are cute lil guys/10
