"What's the matter, kid? Don't ya like clowns? Why? Don't we make ya laugh? Aren't we fuckin' funny? You best come up with an answer, cos I'm gonna come back here and check on you and your momma and if you ain't got a reason why you hate clowns, I'm gonna kill your whole fucking family."
- CAPTAIN SPAULDING
I saw this movie way before I should have, so technically I have memories of this movie from my childhood. you probably aren't too surprised by that at this point...
this movie is about as basic as possible plot-wise. After the UK's most sleazy clown is killed in a party mishap, he comes back from the dead to seek revenge on the people responsible. oh yeah and the way he comes back is a secret clown seance in the cemetery. plot-wise, this movie is as basic as it gets. The directing is nothing special. so why bother talking about it you ask? Because this movie is crazily violent, and surprisingly has a few good jokes that crack me up.
this movie is VELOCIPASTOR levels of stupid with the same self-aware charm. I find the UK setting of this movie oddly charming, even if the flimsy script feels like a first draft. the script is painfully stereotypical, and the only thing that keeps me interested in this movie is its seemingly random scenes of extreme gore. dicks are ripped off, intestines turn into a balloon animal, a good old double butcher knife through the eye, and plenty of other mind-blowing gore. the effects are easily the highlight of this movie, and things get nastier than I have seen in anything more modern horror movie. i also love the Freddy style on liners that are just as corny as the rest of this movie.
I can't in good conscience tell you that this is a good movie, but I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it. terrifier had a Rob Zombie style cousin from the UK, you would get STITCHES the clown.
9/10
YES ITS A 9/10 OK? I really like this movie for some reason...
