PSYCHO GOREMAN

Mr. Goreman is a gay icon.

You know how you kind of have to sit through the worst episodes of creepshow and just hope there's some bomb ass special effects? This movie feels a lot like that. For one thing the lead character is insufferable. I feel bad shitting on child actors, but she really makes this one hard to watch for me. The only other real complaint I have about this movie is how unfunny a lot of it's jokes are. Don't get me wrong, this movie has a few genuinely funny jokes, and almost all of them are delivered by the dad character. Most of the jokes made by the children just make me cringe, and it kind of sucks we're stuck with them for the whole movie.

But it's hard for me to complain and such a special effects filled masterpiece. Every element of this movie is as practical as humanly possible. All of the Sci-Fi sets are miniature models, and all Gore of course is practical brilliance. With the Sci-Fi setting and characters they really had a chance to go balls to the wall here and they didn't hold back. A kid gets turned into a giant krang-style brain, and all of the alien flashback scenes have real sets. Even in the comedy graveyard that is the early sections of this movie, the practical effects are mind blowing. Even if it feels like an extremely long and violent mystery Science theater 3000 bit.

This one's going to be quite hard to rank. As a movie it feels very goofy and amateur. It has its moments but as a movie it had alot of flaws. But the epic scale of just how practical this movie was makes me want to give it a solid 10.

So let's settle on… 7/10
