My nana has been a lifelong stephen king fan. She has read all of his books, and reads more than any person i have ever met. And no she isnt an Annie Wilkes about it. But she us the perfect person to watch Stephen king movies with, since all she knows is the books. So i watched it with her, and man i had totally forgotten how awesome this movie is.
I really love movies that take place in one setting. Cube, the lighthouse, 12 angry men, etc. This movie sort of fits into the same category. The accident happens almost immediately, and then Paul is stuck in annies house.
A very early line in this movie from Annie is "its like clockwork how your pain comes." This makes me immediately think that the pills Annie is giving him aren't what she says the are. She highly unstable, unreliable, and goes into fits rage. She is a genuinely powerful force, and shes scary as hell. Now mayter where she is, there is an awesome sense of tension.
• When shes gone, you fear here coming back
• When shes in the room, you fear she might snap
• And shes home, you fear her popping in to say hi
This whole movie is tense, and is the very definition of a thriller. Thank god we gave the charming sheriff and deputy combo. They are by far the 2nd best part of the movie.
