"The movie is inspired by an incident in Gushan District, Kaohsiung in 2005. A family of six had claimed that they were possessed by various Chinese folk religion deities, and accused each other of being possessed by demons masquerading as deities. They burned each other with incense, hit each other with sticks and spirit tablets, and splashed feces and urine on each other in an attempt to expel the demons. In the end, they singled out the eldest daughter and attacked her until she died of her injuries. The five remaining members of her family were subsequently charged with the offense of "abandoning a helpless person resulting in the person's death". The case was considered one of mass hysteria."

My name is Ruo-Nan, the reason why I'm making this video is I hope that people could help me lift the curse bestowed upon my daughter after watching what I have to say. Because of my ignorance, I never thought that it was my actions that brought the curse. The following content may contain certain hidden dangers and risks, which includes myself retelling the horrifying encounters that happened six years ago. 6 years ago, I set up a studio "Ghostbusters" with my boyfriend and my journalism classmates, we aimed to break myths of superstitions and shared them on our blog. One day, an urgent notice arrived from my boyfriend's home, calling him to return for an ancient cult ritual that occurs once every two decades in his family. Thinking it would be decent material for our blog, we all arrived for the ritual. Unfortunately we then experienced the most horrific ancient curse there.
I was surprised just how easily i found myself immersed in this movie. The events of the film are shown as found footage in a non-linear manner, and the movie is clearly directed by a very competent and talented director. With found footage you expect mostly janky hand held shots that obscure a lot of the action, and although there is some of that this movie manages to feel far more professional than a lot of other movies in the genre. The camera quality is always HD, The lighting and production design are top notch, and best of all you really don't have to wait long for the spooky stuff.
This movie is telling to stories at the same time. The first is a story about a group of friends who fucked around with a cult WAY to much while documenting a ritual for their ghost hunting YouTube channel channel, and the evil that still follows them. the second story involves Ronan taking Dodo to live with her as there house soon becomes infested by unexplained activities, which cause Dodo to gradually develops a debilitating illness. It is a tiny bit annoying to keep jumping from the interesting cult stuff to the less interesting single mama drama, and this movie is a prime example of how using a linear timeline is the right way to go.
its a fine movie, but it bounces around a bit to much, doesn't have any really strong characters to get attached to, and falls back on tropes instead of doing anything new.
So... yeah... this one is a pretty standard meh horror movie
