HELLRAISER: JUDGEMENT

So glad you're gone. I'm so glad you're gone. Free (free) in my house. Free (free) in my truck. Free (free) on the street. Free (free) at last.
Free (free) please don't come back. Free (free) please don't come back. Free (free) please don't come back. Free (free) please don't come back.

- SO GLAD, DAVID LYNCH

Out of all the HELLRAISER movies, i think i was the most curious about this one. its the farthest thing possible movie from the original (for now), and the few clips i had seen made this movie seem unlike any other. to its credit, this movie is definitely... different.

first of all, i love this movie opens in a new version of hell (?) that is downright nasty. if the term vomit play sounds nasty to you, then this sepia toned hell will make your skin crawl. we get gas masked blade bois, someone who literally chewing on the script, topless vomit enthusiasts, and the man at the typewriter who really needs to be more careful when he cuts his own hair. its one of the nastiest settings i have seen since BASKIN, and its a great way to kick off this movie. thankfully we spend a fair amount of time here, but unfortunately soon enough this movie dives into yet another cop plot.

Bro-tectives Sean and David Carter are on the case to find a gruesome serial killer terrorizing the city. Joining forces with Detective Christine Egerton, they dig deeper into a spiraling maze of horror that may not be of this world. again. just like in the movie SE7EN, lots or gruesome crime scenes, a killer who's got a flair for crime scene set decoration, and lots of scenes involving cops at crime scenes. the cop plot stuff is almost totally uninteresting, but its the supernatural/religious bits of this movie that are the most intriguing. but only a bit.

besides the religious stuff and the wacky new hell, this is the same old shit as always.

hopefully i'm as bored of writing this as you are of reading it, so lets just wrap up this series with the same grade most of these movies got.

meh/10
