FRAILTY

When i first was deemed old enough to watch horror movies, my mom would talk about frailty a lot. she was excited to show it to me, and when i first saw this movie i thought it was nothing short of a masterpiece. after re watching it (while not so patiently waiting for SPUTNIK to download) im glad my idea of this movie wasn't to far off.

that being said this movie is know where near perfect. This whole movie has a weird sort of made for TV feeling. A feeling that makes me think a lot of the saw series. lots of flashbacks in the middle of the action, the directing is nothing special, and the basic acting and music ques feels like an early episode of a TV drama. and honestly, thats not a bad thing. the plot is so great i really dont care.

you know those scenes at the Palmer house in Fire Walk With Me that are a total punch in the gut? Scenes of a normal family turning abusive and violent is one of the most effective horror tropes there is for me. i can relate to the feeling of being scared to come home after school, and having a mentally ill parent. perhaps its because of this that i can relate to the characters in this movie so strongly.

but honestly no matter how you grew up, this movie will get under your skin, and has an ending that i wish i could watch for the first time again.

10/10
