EXCESS FLESH

Updated: Aug 3, 2021

This ones hard to joke about. So out of respect, I will not be mentioning Cheddar Goblin even once. wait...…

I always feel uncomfortable talking about movies like this. For one this movie is about the often toxic relationships women form, and the very direct brutality of the competition between women. as a gay dude with ADHD who is currently high as fuck, don't feel super qualified to get into such topics.

this movie is also about how having a eating disorder feels, and the anxiety and pain that comes with it. as a result, the whole movie is coated with this deep sense of unease. the relationship between the 2 leads is this is so intense my stomach gets in knots every time they are on screen together. believe it or not, its extremely difficult to watch someone who is struggling with there mental health constantly be abused and manipulated by someone she loves to much to walk away from. mix that with the constant uncomfortable close ups of people eating, and the solo scenes that show just how much Jill is struggling, and you get what is undoubtedly the most disturbing movie I have ever seen. every line Jill says is packed full of red flags that are constantly ignored, and it makes me want to scream at the tv for someone to get her some help.

Quick shout out to both Bethany Orr (Jill) and Mary Loveless (Jennifer) for acting the fuck out of this movie.

I may never eat Kraft Dinner again.

10/10
