please refrain from laughing at the fact the man on the poster is named Doctor Shrek.
I have always enjoyed Anthology films, but I can't say I have seen any from before the year 2000. I also can't say I have much experience watching Christopher Lee or Peter Cushing in horror, so this movie instantly got me excited. right away I had a hunch I would enjoy this movie, but I was surprised at just how much I loved this movie.
Five chilling stories are linked by the character of a strange fortune-telling doctor who predicts the bizarre deaths of five fellow passengers on a train using a pack of tarot cards. and I'm not talking BIG FISH style dying on the toilet, I'm talking classic horror stories that deal with werewolves, killer plants, creepy old mansions, vaguely racist voodoo, stuffy 60s business boys, and that equally 60s TECHNICOLOR look that makes the whole movie feel like an old issue of Tales From The Crypt. it's packed to the gills with all of the elements that make classic horror so enjoyable, complete with the twilight zone twist ending that is basically standard for these types of films.
it's a fun as hell movie in every aspect, and it's a perfect bit of Halloween candy for the spookiest of seasons. hell, it's even got some swinging jazz musical numbers. this is the junk food of movies in the best way possible.
