that bathroom scene with the dumbbell is the nastiest shit i have seen since POSSESSOR.

Every once in a while, i get the urge to watch either KILLING OF A SACRED DEER or The Lobster again. when that urge struck me again recently, i figured i would check out some of his other work. i had heard good things about DOGTOOTH, and this movie dose not disappoint.

this movie is aggressively uncomfortable, sexual, and creepy. the almost total lack of soundtrack and the deadpan line delivery makes the whole movie feel tense and uneasy. i suppose the other thing that makes this movie feel uneasy is the abuse, incest, brainwashing, and good old fashion cat murder. its really an extended look at how a father has brainwashed his wife and children through years of physical and mental (sexual?) abuse. believe it or not, not a lot of laughs in this one.

the movie never really lets you breathe. without the obvious sound cues most horror movies have, you never really know when something major will happen. the only time we really get music, its either distorted and off, or talked over with more propaganda.

Im just going to breeze over all the weird sex stuff and say that this movie is definitely worth watching if you love the uneasy tone of Yorgos other movies.

or if you hate cats.

10/10 (except for the cat murder)
