DAWN OF THE DEAD (1978)

I dont want to start a riot here, but i still like the 2004 version better.

I haven't really talked about the first movie in this series, and i have no plans to. despite it creating what we think of as the modern zombie, it really didn't hold my attention. And the last thing we need is some asshole online shitting all over something iconic. so lets jump ahead a bit to were Tom Savini got involved.

the horror landscape has so many zombie films now that zombies are boring. And when the creatures are so boring, you kind of need to have great characters.and this movie has some great characters. we also into the now standard moral decisions and choices. is it worth staying alive and fighting at all? could you shoot children if you had to? whats the best plan for survival? why is Young Ken Foree so hot?

This movie also massively benefits from having a 1.5 million dollar budget. Instead of being trapped in a farmhouse, this movie dose a good job of showing the downfall of society on a global scale. and also assisted by that thicc budget is the great kills from Tom Savini. Lots of awesome fleshing munching and ripping from the surprisingly grey zombies, and lots of other nasty injuries done perfectly.

Everything the zombie genre does well is in this movie. First the wrost second th ebest i suppose.

10/10
