Honestly, i am a huge fan of Peach-fuzz as a fursona. man this movie would have been way shorter if Joseph got to live out his furry dreams.
I have spent a lot of time with the CREEP movies. i love to throw them on when im cleaning, and i love to show them to other people. So far my only victims have been my Mom, Nana, and a younger cousin. surprisingly, all of them had a blast.
David Lynch (of course) talks a lot about capturing moods, and its something he excels at in his music and movies. A lot like daddy Lynch, this movie captures the mood of CREEP perfectly. Or should i say Mark Duplass captures the mood perfectly. a lot of that feeling comes from the intimacy of how this movie was filmed. The two built the movie from a series of conversations they had with one another and decided to refine Creep while they were filming, which enabled them to film and screen portions of the film to see what would or would not work on camera. As a result, the film had multiple alternate end scenarios and Duplass stated that there were "10 to 12 permutations of each scene".
because of the closeness of the relationship, this movie often goes places most films wouldn't. like the bathtub. but the best part of this whole series by far is Mark Duplass, whose character quickly became one of my favorites in horror history. a Lot of the joy of his character is how completely untrustworthy and unreliable he is. Is anything he says true? is everything he says true? this gets a little bit less fun in the second movie, both movies work super well as a character study of the man bun murder man (Joseph? Aaron?)
he is one big walking mystery with a Peach fuzz mask on. He is hypnotic, totally unpredictable, and bat shit insane. but he is also surprisingly human at times. and kind of funny all the time. and i love him. so in summary, watch these movie with your Nana
10/10
