I haven't finished this show yet, but its definitely worth talking about even if I can comment on the whole thing. a Netflix show based on a podcast doesn't exactly encourage optimism, but the show is surprisingly great.
An archivist takes a job restoring damaged videotapes, but finds themselves getting pulled into a mystery involving the missing director and a mysterious cult that they were documenting. it is impossible to fully describe this show without spoiling it, and the show does a good job of establishing mystery. Mamoudou Athie is perfect as Dan the leading man, and of course I love the idea of telling the story through old VHS tapes. the show as a whole really only has one massive problem, and she takes up half of the poster.
Melody Pendriss is a very obvious bad actor that kind of sinks any immersion the rest of the show creates. she has such a crazy important role in the shows plot that seeing just how hard the dropped the ball on casting makes my soul hurt. when the goofy podcast host is a better actor than your leading lady, you have definitely got a problem.
so lets just hope they don't drop the ball on the ending
UPDATE
The ending sucks
