ANTHROPOPHAGUS

Each time I make a movie, it's a little better than the last. I'm not young but I'm very enthusiastic. I'm lucky in that I've been able to make any movie I've wanted to: war movies, thrillers, terror movies, even porno movies. I don't have any movies in me that I haven't been able to do.

-Joe D'Amato

Antropophagus, The Grim Ripper, The Beast, The Savage Island, Man Eater - Der Menschenfresser, this movie has more names than the guy who directed it.

Tourists take a boat to a remote island, where they find that most of the people have disappeared, and something is stalking them. They find a hidden room in the big mansion on a hill, and an ancient diary, which gives them clues to the source of the terror.

The music library used in almost every Giallo i have ever seen is a real wacky collection. its a strange bizzaro version of the most basic movie background music, but played on the strangest choice of instruments. the woodwinds are the closest to normal as this soundtrack ever gets, but even the woodwinds cant escape the King Crimson style bass notes. what would normally be some lovely light piano music has strong elements of funk music, and the whole has that light air of funkiness' in every song. the subject really deserves a blog post of its own, so allow me to finally talk about this movie.

this movie is slooooooooowww as fuck. with open with some dismally interesting kills and that fog of disinterest seems to infect the rest of this opening. when the actually get the the island there is a slight increase in the amount of fucks i give, and besides the occasionally awesome directing this movie is paper thin. this is undoubtedly lives on because of "the scene"

yeah the movie sucks but you HAVE to see how it end.

yeah the movie sucks but the ENDING was awesome!

that describes a lot of movies i have covered, and none more so than this one.

curse this poster for getting my hopes up

no thanks/10
