Joe Bob has a nasty habit of covering truly terrible movies, but every once in a while he plays something that quickly becomes my new favorite movie. or at least tied with Evil Dead 2 anyways...
Molly, a highschooler, secretly earns her living as Angel, a street prostitute whose only family and friends are the ones she works with on the streets. She has to survive against a serial killer who is targeting people of her profession. Sounds familiar...
this movie is amazing. you know that delightfully bizarre feeling a lot of cult classics from the 80s? this movie feels like being wrapped in a warm blanket. every single character in this movie is acted to perfection. The 1984 Hollywood walk of fame setting is packed full of amazing characters, and the entire atmosphere of the whole movie can be described simply as fun as hell. we get a hilarious trans woman, and old west cowboy, an exhausted dinner owner, and of course our sweaty gym rat murderer. i really can't stress enough how every single character in this movie is perfectly goofy and light-hearted.
another reason this movie works so well is how it manages to have quite a few emotional scenes that are all extremely effective. I love a movie that really shows the impact of its violence, and this movie is a great example. A lot like TWIN PEAKS, this movie really shows how even one murder affects an entire community.
this movie is hilarious, horrifying, gritty, emotional, bizarre, and most of all fun as hell
10/10
UPDATE OCT 31ST, 2022
This movie is an incredible mix between the most kind and wonderful people on earth, and egg-sucking hooker murderers with mommy issues.
