A CLASSIC HORROR STORY

Based solely on the title, you may think this is a loving tribute to all the horror movies that have come before it. It's in the middle of the woods in a cabin, has a small cast of characters that get picked off one by one, and at the end one girl manages to escape. And for about an hour that's what you get with this movie. Then the final act kicks in and this movie goes from a 6 to a 10. It's hard to talk about what makes this movie so great without getting into spoiler territory, so if you haven't seen this movie please dear God go watch it right now. And for those of you who have seen it, holy f****** s*** that ending right?!?! Wow! It reminds me of funny games in that it sort of punishes you for critical thinking. The more you try to understand the cult and their motives the more you will be punished when you learn there was never a cult in the first place. So what was the point of all this then? Who is the mysterious client who ordered all this in the first place? some horror nerd just like you. you could call this movie film about desensitization. You could call this movie a criticism on predictability, horror audiences and horror film makers. We could get into the symbolism, camera work, acting choices, and a whole heap of other nonsense any film school nerd will be happy to rant about Or I could just tell you that it's One of the best horror movies I've seen in a long time. 10/10
